Program Description
Event Details
Attention homeschoolers! Have you been wanting to participate in a science fair but don't know where to start? Look no further as the Bedford branch is hosting its first homeschool science fair event for students in grades 4-12. The focus is on researching, experimenting, designing, and having FUN while learning about science.
Science Fair Guidelines:
- Students must select a science fair topic of interest for their project. A good science fair project idea is one that asks a clear scientific question that can be answered through experimentation or identifies a problem that can be solved using engineering.
- Students must follow the scientific method or the engineering design process for their project. See attached file for an overview of these processes.
- All research, experiments, and data collection are to be complete prior to the science fair. The library has a variety of resources to help with your project, such as online databases, printing services, and of course, books!
- Create a display board and/or presentation that details what you did, shows your data, and presents your conclusions to display at the science fair.
Notes:
- 6 foot tables and chairs will be provided. Please let Jess know if you require an electrical outlet.
- Science Buddies has excellent resources to help you get started with your project with online tools such as a topic selection wizard, information on organizing your display board, and helpful tips.
- There will be no formal judging but the science fair will be open to the public and family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.
