August is the perfect time to divide and transplant irises! Dividing the rhizomes after the bloom cycle and well before the dormant period gives transplants enough time to establish roots before the winter, which makes them more likely to produce flowers the very next spring.
So bring your divided irises and other appropriate perennials to the library on Saturday, August 10th, and swap them for new varieties! Participants are asked to please label your plants with color and variety before coming to the event.
The Iris Exchange will take place in the North Parking Lot, unless inclement weather moves us indoors to the Community Room. Pre-registration is appreciated.
Interested in giving away but not in taking on new plants? Donations are always welcomed and appreciated!
