The Bedford Branch of the Monroe County Library System presents FREE tax preparation service for seniors and low to moderate income households. There is limited availability and you MUST call for an appointment. 734-847-6747.

Appointment times are 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:00pm, and 1:30pm

Federal and State returns will be prepared and filed electronically on site at the library.

Requirements:

  • You must bring a state or federal issued picture ID (Driver's License, State ID, or Passport)
  • You must bring your Social Security Card (or current statement from Social Security)
  • You must bring all sources of income statements - W2s, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-R, etc.
  • All filers must be present while the return is being prepared. Dependents need not be present, however you MUST bring dependents' Social Security Cards with you.
  • Overly complex forms are out of our scope.
  • If Michigan Homestead Property Tax credit is sought, you must bring your current L-4400 Notice of Assessment. (Contact the Bedford Township Treasurer's Office for this at 734-224-7342)
  • VITA filers reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
